We are delighted to share the remarkable story of Al and Diann Muck, the new owners who have embraced the legacy of Al’s family in Manitou Beach, Michigan. Al’s father, Bud, had a cherished place on the lake and operated a TV and Maytag Appliance store in nearby Adrian. Over time, the family’s connection to the area deepened, and Al and Diann inherited the property, becoming proud owners of a lake house.

With the passing of time, Al and Diann’s love for Manitou Beach and Devil’s Lake flourished. The allure of the picturesque surroundings, combined with the community’s warm embrace, led them to make the decision to become year-round residents. They now call Devil’s Lake their home, savoring its natural beauty and all the joys that come with lakeside living.

The Muck family’s history, rooted in the heart of the Manitou Beach community, has shaped Al and Diann’s appreciation for the area’s unique charm. Their commitment to preserving the natural beauty of Devil’s Lake while embracing the spirit of community echoes the legacy established by Al’s father, Bud. As active members of the community, Al and Diann are dedicated to fostering a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.

With their deep-rooted history and love for Manitou Beach, Al and Diann Muck embody the spirit of the community as they continue the family tradition of cherishing the lake, engaging with neighbors, and contributing to the ongoing development and growth of this beloved lakeside destination.

Diann is a retired software engineer from Boeing, and Al is a local Pastor at St John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian and a civil engineer. A couple of their daughters are helping with commerce technology, marketing, art gallery development, grocery retail, and general launch. They are also helping to execute our summertime Grab + Go concept with fresh food you can take on-the-go, on-the-boat, or enjoy in our art cafe.

Their family is passionate about great locally sourced food, inspiring art and bringing people together through community engagement.

They love to host authors and artists. Recently, we had a book signing event with the renowned author Dan Cherry on June 17th, during the Art Festival. It presented a unique opportunity to meet the author in person, gain insight into his creative process, and perhaps even take home a signed copy of his inspiring work “Night of the Wind”.

At the Lakeside Cafe, they believe in the transformative power of art and its ability to enrich our lives. We invite you to join us on this incredible journey as we support local talent, foster creativity, and create a space where art truly thrives.

The Lakeside Cafe showcases the incredible Manitou Beach Children’s Art Gallery. Manitou Beach Creative is the organization who executes the art programs. In collaboration with the 501c3 initiative, they have set out to create an extraordinary art program that will empower and inspire the young artists in our community. —a visual testament to the artistic journeys of our talented young individuals.

Together, let’s celebrate the beauty of artistic expression and make our mark on the world through the universal language of art, food + community.
